John Pemberton created Coca-Cola to get rid of morphine
Dr. Pemberton, who was wounded in the chest during military service, started taking morphine to relieve the pain. Later, although the wound healed, Pemberton, who could not give up the drug containing opium, decided to develop a recipe for a pain-relieving, opium-free drink based on coca leaves. After a while, he started selling his new product under the brand name “Pemberton’s French Cocaine Wine”. This is a brief history of the world famous carbonated drink.
